Dave hit up Instagram this past weekend and tipped his hat to Kehlani with a must-see clip.

Earlier this month, Kehlani penned some heartfelt words to a slew of musical inspirations.
man I’m always shook but in this moment I was shaken and STIRRED. Yo.. I’ve been listening to this woman since her first project. A woman who took her time, who remained incredibly honest and so HERSELF. A woman with connection to the universe, who’s album got me through the toughest time. I love you girl… I am speeeeechless. (P.s. you touched my hand at SF Pride years ago and I never forgot it)
to my guardian angel… for us to be standing here and you presenting me with an award.. is surreal. I remember the time we joked about things like this, I remember word for word “I don’t want nothing from you… just don’t forget my name in your acceptance speech!” .. I owe you the world nick. Thank you for all that you are, all that you have been. I love you more than life. @nickcannon
so I just gotta say.. mental health stole a lot of my joy/peace for a long time.. I was Invited so many places and didn’t show up because I couldn’t bring myself to leave my room.. to the point I think people even stopped inviting me lol so to be here, present, confident, HAPPY & ABLE… after swearing to my folks “yo I dont ever think I could do anything like that” …in this moment ain’t nothin more important to me.. anyone goin thru something right just know there is light at the end of the tunnel, you keep fighting and loving and one day.. you’ll get all that love back. this is personal victory.
A few weeks ago, Lani pulled through to perform and receive Billboard’s “Rule Breaker” award at its Women in Music 2017 ceremony.
The rising R&B singer then stepped on stage to perform her latest release “Honey” while supported by nothing more than an acoustic guitar. The beautifully raw delivery resonated with the crowd and highlighted her delicate vocals. When the song reached its end, Cannon returned to present her with her award. “I’m so stoked to put this on my desk,” Kehlani admitted, before revealing her long-standing connections to Canon. “He’s literally the reason I’m here right now,” she recalled how he told her if she finished high school he would let her record at his studio in Los Angeles and help set her up with an apartment. “This is my guardian angel,” she said.
