R&B singer DaniLeigh is still facing a whole lot of criticism and she's dealt with it by hopping off the Internet - but then coming right back. The West Coast crooner deactivated and then reactivated a major social media account after drawing controversy with a new song preview.
DaniLeigh Deletes + Reactivates Twitter Account
After catching heat and being accused of colorism for singing “yellow bone is what he wants” while previewing an unreleased song titled “Yellow Bone,” she deleted her Twitter account. She didn’t ditch it in time though, having tweeted out results of her ancestry before taking her account down. DaniLeigh has since come back online.
Future’s Ex Calls Out DaniLeigh Over ‘Yellow Bone’
DL has been under scrutiny ever since her new song “Yellow Bone” stirred up controversy on social media about colorism. Model Eliza Reign, an ex-girlfriend of rapper Future, was among those involved in the debate. DaniLeigh recently dropped a snippet of her new single and commented that the song was for “light skin” women, defending her art. The Internet grilled the multi-talented performer for that, with Eliza Reign adding some flames for DaniLeigh.
“Certain things are expected from these male rappers but I’m shocked a woman still doing this in 2021. Honestly. Anybody that’s been in America more than 2 hours should know that’s a touchy subject, but then again we shouldn’t expect a person who isn’t even black (redbone or chocolate) to understand how it’s offensive. Redbones are lighter toned black women by the way not Hispanic but go off mami”

As the colorism debate continued, a lot of people pointed out that DaniLeigh is currently dating rap star DaBaby. And as Eliza Reign put it, DaBaby is a “dark skin man with dark skin kids from dark skin mothers.”

DaniLeigh recently responded to an Instagram question about who she loves. She let it be known she loves the Charlotte rapper and posted a picture of him making her feelings clear.
