Rap executive Damon “Dame” Dash wants the media to fall back on taking advantage of his former protégé. The hip-hop mogul has shared thoughts on the drama currently surrounding ex-Roc-A-Fella Records star Kanye West.

In a new interview, Dame explained how the media are the true culprits responsible for empowering an unstable Ye.

“I think it’s very clear that there’s an imbalance and I don’t think people should take advantage of the imbalance just to bring awareness to their platforms. He’s already said he’s bipolar. If you give a bipolar man a mic, I don’t know what you expect. I don’t think it’s fair. He said it on television, he’s on meds, so what else is there to talk about? It’s messed up to talk with a sick man. It’s funny like, the press, if they know somebody’s gonna say something stupid, they’re quick to pass them a mic and put the camera on them and let them talk about it. But they’re not so fast to do that when they know somebody’s going to say something smart because ain’t nobody throwing me a mic. You don’t see them running around like, ‘Damon’s got a diabetes network. Oh, Damon’s got a movie studio. He’s got three movies, an independent movie studio on his own, he’s got a streaming service.’ But let me not pay my bills or let me go to court. You understand? And y’all rock with that, man. That’s how y’all empower people or give people with negativity a platform to be contagious and I think that’s where the problem is.

Recently, Detroit rapper Royce Da 5’9 shared his take on Yeezy 2.0.

“Kanye, he a dude who I have the utmost respect for creatively. His personal views don’t bother me at all. This is a society and climate that’s moving so fast that you don’t have to see what you don’t want to see. You don’t have to listen to nothing you don’t want to listen to. Everything is on-demand. You can live in your own world and be completely happy. That’s your right as a fan. Unfortunately, there are people who are stuck to this man. They follow his every move and cling to his every word. He’s got to be responsible. I feel bad for them and I feel bad for Chicago. But in terms of my feelings towards him, he’s entitled to talk like that.” (Billboard)

This week, rap star Meek Mill explained his stance toward Yeezy following headline-generating slavery comments.

“I saw a little clip where he was saying something that was extra from what they were showing on TV. And he was speaking on some things that were true. When he’s talking about slavery and people had a choice, though, I disagree 10,000 percent. I don’t know what he’s talking about. But I know that he’s trying to deliver a message for a better cause. What he’s trying to do. … I wish him the best. I’m not taking nothing from him. That’s somebody that inspired me. I’ve got my own battle to fight and I’m on some justice reform. I’m trying to free the slaves.” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)

Last weekend, music icon Stevie Wonder called Ye’s words nothing less than foolishness.

“You know what? Honestly, if you know your history, you know that’s not true,. If you know the truth, you don’t listen to foolishness.” (TMZ)
