[It was dope having Swifty McVay on the show because he has a history but he also respects history of others. We were able to chop it up with him about early Detroit pioneers Esham and Dice and he also was able to reflect on the late Proof of D12. Of course there was some convo about Eminem, but overall it was a well rounded interview.]

Remembering Proof Of D12 & TNT Of NATAS

Remembering Proof:

He was a real good spirit. Big Proof was hip-hop in every form and fashion. When he came up he came up free styling. If he walked into a room you would remember who this man was. He wasn’t afraid to express who he was. He always left you something you could carry on to and build for yourself. He did things for people and wasn’t trying to be in the spotlight. He kept everything a secret, and just wanted to see everybody happy.

Last time seeing TNT:

I remember seeing TNT, Rest in Peace, and everything was all good. He said I hope you guys continue success, and I said the same. That was over ten years ago when I seen him, so when I heard that was very unfortunate, Rest in Peace and much blessings to him and his family.

Detroit Legend Dice Calls In & Speaks W/ Swifty

One of the dopest parts of the show was when Detroit Legend Dice called into the show and caught Swifty off guard. It kicked off with the two D-Town Emcees giving props to each other! “Dice: What up Swifty, this Dice! Swifty: Yo, Detroit Legend alert!” After choppin’ it up for a few minutes Swifty invited Dice out to an upcoming event. Who knows this might leave the window of opportunity for the two to work together in the future. We are always happy when artists are able to connect on our show!

Swifty Speaks On Knowledge Eminem Passed On From Dr. Dre

That’s my brother for life!! He formulated Shady Records just for D12. We made a pact the first person to get signed would come back and get everybody else. He took the knowledge and traits that he got from Dr. Dre and brought it home. He kinda schooled us and kinda gave us the same kinda ear that he got from Dre. He is a perfectionist!

Suge Knight Runs Up In 50 Cent’s In Da Club Video Shoot

Em was pretty much guilty by association. Dr. Dre inherited this beef from Suge and here come Em with Dre and he kinda got pulled in it by default. We were at the “In Da Club” video shoot, and we was all outside the trailer and Suge Knight and his people came to the video shoot and try to intimidate everybody. We are from the “D”, you ain’t got no business trying to move us no where, we not moving. We was just worried about our mans! It was crazy to us!

On Current State Of Hip-Hop

To me I might be wrong, but alot of these mumble rappers don’t know about the history of Hiphop. Alot of these mumble rappers don’t take the time to go back in the past to see where that essence came from. All they need to do is go back and see the true essence and where it came from. If you love the culture you need to check the history of the culture and alot of emcees need to do that.
