Detroit rap group D12’s Kuniva has come forward to explain crew leader Eminem‘s absence from their new Devil’s Night Mixtape reunion project.

According to the Dirty Dozen member, scheduling conflicts ultimately cost them Slim Shady’s presence.

“Eminem didn’t make this project at all. He tried as much as he could, but he didn’t make it. We could’ve waited for him to go ahead and do it, but we wanted to really just let people know that we’re also emcees too and we can handle ourselves. We know how to do this sh*t.” (VLAD TV)

Kuniva also assured fans they could expect some more D12 music heading toward 2016.

“Everybody knows who Em is. So, we wanted to showcase ourselves on this and show people we could hold our own as emcees – this is just an appetizer for some sh*t to come.” (VLAD TV)

The group released their Halloween-themed mixtape yesterday (October 30).

The long awaited new project from the legendary collective and newly regrouped, D12. The new project features 13 new records including features from Eminem, Slaughterhouse’s Royce Da 5’9, G-Unit’s Kidd Kidd & more. (Datpiff)

Last year, Kuniva talked to SOHH about D12 possibly coming back together.

“We recently did a song on “Shady XV” and that was the first time we had recorded together in a long time. It was like the first time, without Marshall, we had recorded something in like six or seven years. The chemistry was right there again. We never lost a step. I think a D12 reunion can definitely happen. You might have to look out in 2015 to see if something goes down. We’re all talking about it and so people are starting to get that itch again. We’re seeing the magic that we had and it’s always been there. Even though we were missing Proof, we still went in and worked together.” (SOHH)

  1. Lol if Eminem wanted to be a part of that then he would have. Ever since Proof died Em lost all interest in D12

    • no hes just letting them showcase their selves because they are actually good if you were a real eminem fan you would know that we dont need him on every d12 track to hear them at their best though they killed it with him their theyre very creative in general all we needed was that intro from eminem and we got it so be ungrateful as you want they gave us what we deserve

      • Without Proof I could care less to hear them honestly, without Em it’s even worse. I don’t think they are very talented outside of that surely not Bazaar.

          • I really hope nobody was stupid enough to pay that for his verse. You could get any average local rapper to lay a nicer verse for free.

      • I never said Eminem needs to be on every track. The only talented members of D12 were proof, mr porter(as a producer) and swifty and I’m sure most people agree.
