Based on one-day reports, the album will chart next week.

The combined Power of Glee and Madonna will result in a chart-topping debut for Columbia’s third compilation of songs from Ryan Murphy‘s pop zeitgeist show on Fox. With last night’s episode revealing Sue Sylvester‘s lifelong obsession with the Material Girl, as well as seven set-pieces incorporating some of her biggest hits, Glee: The Power of Madonna will bow at #1 on next week’s chart with a total of 100-120k. Longtime L.A. rap stoners Cypress Hill’s Priority/EMI debut, Rise Up, released, appropriately enough on 4/20, is ready to vaporize up 18-22k in first-week sales. (Hits Daily Double)

The rap group’s leader, B-Real, recently talked about it the album dropping on national “Smoke Day.”

“Originally, it was supposed to come out late last year,” But we wanted to do a little bit more work and get a couple of more tracks done. Then we said we were going to release it in March. We always wanted to put it out on 4-20. But we had been kind of anxious because it’s been six years. But then we all said, you know what, 4-20 has to be the release date because it just makes the most sense. Why wouldn’t we do it? We have the chance to do it. So, we jumped on it and pushed it back. A lot of people think we planned it, like aw well, they waited this long because 4-20 is on a Tuesday and that’s when people release records. I wish the story was that easy. (Laughs) We just took more time than we thought we would need. We all had solo projects happening, but for the last three years we started grinding out.” (All Hip Hop)

Cypress Hill signed to Snoop Dogg‘s Priority Records earlier this year.

Snoop Dogg has made his first signing as Creative Chairman of Priority Records, adding West Coast rappers Cypress Hill to the revived label’s roster. Snoop and Cypress Hill made the announcement on the “Lopez Tonight” show, where the Black Sunday band performed their hit “Insane in the Brain.” Cypress Hill will release Rise Up, their first album since 2004’s Til Death Do Us Part, on April 6th. Snoop also confirmed the move in a written statement earlier this year.

“My role as Creative Chairman of Priority Records has put me in the driver’s seat to help revive the most important west coast hip hop label,” said Snoop in a statement this morning. “As such, I’m excited to announce my first signing as Cypress Hill. Cypress Hill is undeniably one of the most important Hip Hop groups in music history, not only are they incredibly talented and the first Latino Hip Hop group to go platinum, they are also from the west coast-so this signing is the perfect marriage.” (Hip Hop DX)
