Wait, There’s More

A couple years ago, Prynce talked about his involvement in working with Scott on his Astroworld album. CyHi also discussed how hip-hop artists need bigger presences in the studio when trying to compete with Billboard chart toppers.

“Once you put out a rap album and you’re getting 50, 60, 100 grand a show and you’re this household name, the only next level to go is to compete with Adele and Sam Smith and whatever gospel choir or alternative rock group is up for Album of the Yea. Those guys aren’t in there by theyself. It’s 30, 40 people–you got trumpet players, lyricists, writers. … We’re starting to treat rap like that, like it has to be that important. But [knowing] what minds to put into the room is what makes you a great producer. Instead of just having your homeboys from the crib that’s just in there smoking weed, chilling, playing video games, you’d rather put up a flight for a guy like me, that’s going to make sure the sh*t sounds dope.” (Complex)

Before You Go

In early August, Travis Scott’s Astroworld reached its two-year anniversary. The project features a slew of standout records and unforgettable guest features.

The album’s promo alone deserved its own soundtrack. In preparation for its release, Travis put out an unforgettable trailer.

There’s no way anyone doesn’t know at least six bars off “Sicko Mode” by this point. The Swae Lee and Drakefeatured anthem easily turned into an instant classic when the LP dropped.

Travis gave Atlanta rapper Gunna a major look on their “Yosemite” collaboration. The music video also impressed with some serious visuals and eye-opening cinematic action.

Scott waited months before putting out the visual treatment to his “Can’t Say” anthem but it was worth the wait.

Scott set tones for the entire album’s vibes with his “Stop Trying To Be God” banger.
