According to reports, the officer who stopped Zimmerman could be in deep trouble.

It’s the most recognizable iPhone sound on the planet — the camera shutter — and now it’s biting one Texas cop in the ass … after he apparently snapped a sneaky iPhone photo during the George Zimmerman traffic stop this weekend. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, the officer who pulled Zimmerman over for speeding on Sunday is currently under investigation after dash cam footage revealed he took an iPhone picture during the stop … at least that’s the way it sounds. Investigators are reportedly looking to speak with the unnamed officer.

You can plainly hear the telltale sound in the video — followed by the “unlock” sound and typing iPhone keys. You’ll hear it 29 seconds into the video. It’s unclear what photo the officer snapped — or if he sent it to anyone — but if he took a pic of Zimmerman’s driver’s license for personal use … he could be in trouble. We’re told the officer in question is off duty today, and investigators are currently trying to get in touch with him. (TMZ)

Zimmmerman was reportedly armed with a weapon when approached by cops in North Texas last weekend.

George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station. The officer then told Zimmerman he could go on his way if he had no criminal issues. The incident was captured on the officer’s dashcam. (CBS News)

The news came just weeks after Zimmerman was painted as a hero for helping a family out of a truck crash.

George Zimmerman, who has been in hiding since he was acquitted of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, emerged to help rescue a family who was trapped in an overturned vehicle, police said today. Zimmerman was one of two men who came to the aid of a family of four — two parents and two children — trapped inside a blue Ford Explorer SUV that had rolled over after traveling off the highway in Sanford, Fla. at approximately 5:45 p.m. Thursday, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The crash occurred at the intersection of I-4 and route Route 46, police said. The crash site is less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot Martin. (ABC News)
