New York rapper Consequence isn’t here for the trolling going at former “Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens. The hip-hop veteran has stepped forward to speak on the TV entertainer low-key working at a Trader Joe’s grocery store.
Cons went to Instagram this past weekend to defend Owens’ new line of work and referenced his memorable “Spaceship” verse off Kanye West‘s 2004 The College Dropout debut album.

In addition to Cons, various Hollywood entertainers have come through to support Owens.
I had been a working actor for years. Jobs stopped, as they do. I worked in retail. At a flower shop. I passed out flyers. It’s about the work. Work gives you pride and purpose. Your visibility as an actor never goes away. But the money sure does. #geoffreyowens pic.twitter.com/BBzZaBrGBx

Again, why is this news? When I worked on “Thirtysomething” I was also summarizing depositions to pay my rent. Why are you trying to humiliate this honorable, hardworking actor? Shame on you! #geoffreyowens – many great blessings are coming your way! https://t.co/8tgvW3iixr

I used to be ashamed that I had to work a second job to support my acting career, wrongly believing it was some sort of failure. Now I see it as an absolute anchor; providing financial stability and a humbling structure within a turbulent industry. Fly the flag #GeoffreyOwens 🙌

I worked in a Wetherspoons kitchen after being in Harry Potter. I needed a job, no shame in that. And you know what? I really enjoyed it! You do what you need to do and that's nothing to be ashamed of. https://t.co/1RI8sltHMe

#NOSHAME in good, honest, hard work. He’s being a man in doing what he needs to do to provide for himself and his family. Much respect to you Sir! https://t.co/rQoNdnj6bd

Publication Fox News ultimately took serious heat for running the Owens story.
Some accused Fox News of being hypocrites because their on-air anchors are constantly talking about “economic anxiety” among older, working-class Americans, The Wrap reported. “‘Geoffrey Owens still acts occasionally, works at Trader Joe’s, and ministers to others in need, setting a good example for people everywhere. What a great guy,’ That’s what @FoxNews should have said,” Texas Congressional candidate Dayna Steele wrote on Twitter. (USA Today)

Delete this. The man is trying to put food on the table and you’re trying to humiliate him? https://t.co/Uo6ierGEeC

The Hollywood veteran is most known for his role as a series regular on “The Cosby Show.”
Owens played the son-in-law of Bill Cosby’s character on the classic sitcom from 1985 to 1992. The 57-year-old is still a working actor, with 41 acting credits, according to Amazon.com Inc.’s AMZN, +0.52% IMDB, and teaches acting as well. As far as retail jobs go, Trader Joe’s is pretty good. The grocery chain is on Glassdoor’s 100 best places to work in 2018, pays an above-average minimum wage, offers annual bonuses and provides health insurance and retirement benefits for even part-time workers.
