UFC superstar Conor McGregor‘s only focus in life these days is on Floyd Mayweather Jr. The MMA champion has reportedly dedicated his training to lacing up against the retired boxing icon.
According to reports, McGregor is putting his all into facing Money Mayweather.
We spoke with McGregor’s rep who says The Notorious is “only training boxing” while working out in Dublin to focus on the super fight. That’s right … the UFC lightweight (and former featherweight) champ ain’t practicing mixed martial arts. Dana White announced last Thursday that McGregor’s side of the deal is complete. (TMZ)
Over the past few days, Conor has trolled Mayweather on Instagram.
In early May, Floyd talked about possibly fighting The Notorious McGregor.
“I’m just a fighter at the end of the day – all you guys gotta do is just look at the numbers of boxing and look up the numbers of MMA. … Conor McGregor is the second biggest name in MMA. I’m not gonna sit right here and knock Conor McGregor. He went out there and done what he had to do. It’s obvious he’s done something right thus far to get to the point where he’s at, so I’m not here to badmouth him. And I’ve been off a couple years and I’m 40 years old now. I’m a lot older and he’s still in his 20s. I’m in my 40s now. So that could play a major key. And he’s a heavy hitter, so we’ll just see. Has he signed the contract yet? Absolutely not.” (TMZ Sports)
Last month, UFC president Dana White talked about Mayweather/McGregor lacing up.
Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. In an interview with Yahoo Sports’ Chris Mannix, UFC president Dana White was asked if there was an update on negotiations for the superfight. “Well, Conor McGregor is having a baby right now,” White told Mannix. “After his girlfriend delivers their baby, we’ll start working on this deal.” (Yahoo!
