British comedian Simon Brodkin has become an overnight celebrity this weekend after bum-rushing rap star Kanye West‘s Glastonbury Festival performance last night (June 27).

Footage of the jaw-dropping stunt hit the Internet moments after the incident went down.

Brodkin ran onstage in a “Lee-zus” T-shirt and carrying a mic during ‘Black Skinhead’, the fourth song of West’s set. Though he was quickly apprehended by a security guard, Brodkin’s actions disrupted the rapper’s debut headline show, and he was forced to restart the track. (TIME)

Brodkin revealed the motivation behind the stage incident afterward.

Buzz about a petition for Ye not to perform at Glastonbury had thousands of signatures back in March.

Kanye West is all set to headline England’s Glastonbury Festival in June — but thousands of angry music fans are hoping that will change. By Wednesday afternoon, the petition had just over 50,000 signatures. (It should be noted that anybody — not just Glastonbury ticket holders — can sign.) (TIME)

The petition blasted Kanye and called him out for musical injustice.

“Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment. Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music….he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving! Lets prevent this musical injustice now!” (Change)
