E-mail is my best friend. I kind of hit [producer] Happy Perez up and say, “Hey, send me some tracks because I’m working on this and that,” and he’ll send stuff over. Then I might record and say, “What do you think about this?”
It’s great because we don’t have to be in one place at one time.
I love writing for other people and for myself. When you’re writing for other people, you get to be whoever you want to be. You go in and can kind of zone out. I write everything. It’s fun sometimes to be able to step outside of the box and challenge myself to do other things.

That’s what’s great about that.
What’s fun about writing for myself is being able to really unload emotionally and mentally and not having to worry if it will fit for somebody else. I can genuinely be me.
The thought-process is a little bit different. Going in and writing for somebody else, there’s guidelines and they want to say this or that, or for it to sound a different way. So it’s a little bit different.
