Even after 25 years since its original premiere, the movie Friday has remained a cultural classic. With two follow-ups afterward, the character ‘Smokey,’ played by Chris Tucker, has been missed. Well, that might just be about to change.
On an episode on the “Club Shay Shay” Podcast with NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, actor and comedian DC Young Fly made an eyebrow-raising comment about the new upcoming “Friday” movie.
DC Youngfly, often compared to Chris Tucker in comedic style, shared some of the personal conversations he had with the beloved Friday actor, which may indicate a return to the hip-hop movie franchise may be in the works.
“Chris Tucker said if I play his son, he’ll be in the movie”.
The conversation continued with Sharpe and they both toyed around the idea of Chris making a cameo in the film.
Will “Friday” Continue With Tucker?
The last two movies in the Friday franchise are still universally loved by fans but a common trait about those films is the absence of the character “Tucker,” Craig’s pot-smoking friend.
Tucker has been waffling about doing another Friday film for years.
“I don’t know if we could do another one because I was so young and it was a moment in time but we’ll see”.
It’s still up in the air and a release date is anyone’s guess.
