Australia’s Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce has come forward to shed light on the country’s intent to ban R&B singer Chris Brown for receiving a visa.

According to reports, Joyce talked about the situation stirring up complications at home.

‘This is an argument I have with my daughters who want him to come in, God help us,’ Mr Joyce said as he laughed. ‘But he has served five years probation in the US. We have said that we have an intent not to let him in. He now has to prove he is worthy of coming in the door.’ (Daily Mail UK)

Last weekend, Australia immigration minister Peter Dutton announced the government intended to deny his visa request.

“I can confirm that a notice of intention to consider refusal has been issued. People to whom these notices are issued have 28 days to present material as to why they should be given a visa to enter Australia. Decisions on whether a visa will or will not be issued are made after that timeframe and consideration of the material presented to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.” (Statement)

Brown’s tour representatives have spoken out on the situation this week.

His Australian tour representatives, Castor and Ford tours, remained hopeful that the event would go on as planned. “Contrary to media reports, Chris Brown’s request to enter Australia on tour has not been denied. This request is currently being considered by the office of the immigration minister,” a spokeswoman said. (The Guardian)
