Glover uses his influence to reinforce the message that African-Americans still face prejudice and racism with lines like “You just a black man in this world, you just a barcode”. The most powerful image of the entire video is perhaps the graphic image of Glover killing church choir members, which is an apparent reference to the shooting of an African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina that left 9 dead. The scene addressed both racism and gun violence, as well as the disturbing combination of the two.
