Donald Glover, better known as Childish Gambino, is becoming one of the world’s biggest entertainment stars. He’s an actor, musician, director, producer, DJ, and so much more.

You probably know him from the Emmy-winning TV series Atlanta, or perhaps from just the chorus of his hit song “Redbone”. Regardless, after hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live this past weekend Glover dropped a music video for a song titled “This Is America” – and it’s blowing up. With over 16,000,000 YouTube views in less than 24 hours, it’s trending for the astonishing creativity and originality of the video.

Here are 5 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know Catch In Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” Video.

1. It addresses gun violence.

One might think that the multiple shootings and murders that take place in the video are just there for shock value, but they’re much deeper than that. Throughout the video, some imagery seem to question morals regarding guns in modern-day America. After every murder and death, the gun used to do the killing is neatly wrapped up in a cloth and taken away gently while the bodies are strewn about the floor in a nonchalant manner that questions how much value society places on human life. Glover set out to take a powerful stance on America’s current issue of gun violence, and definitely hit the mark in this video with lyrics like “This is America, guns in my area” accompanying the shocking visuals.
