[With his Hamilton, Charles album out, rapper Charles Hamilton talks to SOHH about linking up with Red Bull TV for the Let it Play…Fault Lines documentary where he gives viewers an uber personal look into his life.]
My management team came to me after I had performed with Lupe [Fiasco] and said, ‘We have some people who are interested in doing a documentary on your life story.’ Now my life story isn’t exactly all roses so to be able to share my story on a grand scale is kind of a dream come true.
It’s not easy.
Being able to articulate myself and to show how articulate I am is just a thrill. They got a chance to see me record, they got a chance to see me talk to my mother before she passed, it was surreal.
Some of the parts I was hesitant about aren’t in the documentary but we will explore our ability to reveal the more intimate and grossly direct details of my life.
Some of the intimate details were left out but it’s still very graphic and I was able to maintain my composure for the most of it.
