Popular New York radio host Charlamagne Tha God has stepped forward to speak out on Kanye West name-checking him during a rant earlier this week.
Charlamagne took to the radio airwaves to question Kanye’s latest public tantrum.
“I just wanna know where was all that when he was here on ‘The Breakfast Club.’ How can y’all respect that? How do you get mad after the fact? If you felt that way, you sat here in this studio for over an hour and didn’t say none of that, but now, three to four months later, you ranting about me again. … If Kanye wants to do radio interviews and he doesn’t want the host to talk, he might as well just do video blogs. I just want him to calm down and not get high blood pressure. And Kim, please go buy Kanye some chocolates or some flowers, some balloons for Valentines. He’s acting like a single, bitter b*tch right now.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
According to reports, the buzzing rant went down Thursday (February 13) in Pennsylvania.
A few days removed from the 10th anniversary of his debut album The College Dropout, Kanye West kicked off the second leg of his Yeezus Tour at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania last night. During the show, Kanye delivered another memorable rant, which has become commonplace on the road for the Chicago rapper. He began by performing the intro to “Touch the Sky,” before stopping the music to give the audience a piece of his mind. “If I go to a radio interview, shut the f*ck up!” he yelled to the applause of the crowd. “If you’re on your talk show at nighttime, showing a picture of me walking with my girlfriend and shit, shut the f*ck up!” (Complex)
The self-proclaimed genius also used the opportunity to single out handfuls of celebrities.
Kanye then got a bit more specific, calling out Jimmy Kimmel, but not naming him, for making fun of his interview with Zane Lowe. “2013, spoofing and all that sh*t, trying to make a joke out of what we do. Shut the f*ck up! What the f*ck you do?” Last year, Kanye West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show to iron out their issues. Later, he called out radio hosts Sway Calloway and Charlamagne Tha God, who both irked Kanye when he visited their respective radio shows last year. “Everybody who f*ckin’ writing all that sh*t, just to diss me and talk sh*t, what the f*ck did you do?” he said. “Charlamagne, Sway… F*ck you did?” (Complex)
Mr. West appeared on “The Breakfast Club” last November and engaged himself in a war of words with Charlamagne.
Kanye West is on a promotional run for the Yeezus Tour in New York City. After stopping by Hot 97’s Angie Martinez‘s show, he made his way to Power 105’s The Breakfast Club with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. In the interview, Charlamagne calls out ‘Ye for being a “walking contradiction.” He also calls Yeezus “wack” and said he wasn’t a “Kanye West fan.” (XXL Mag)
