Chicago’s Chance The Rapper has come forward to send a few shots at movie director Spike Lee following a recent jab from the Hollywood veteran over his Chiraq movie.
Chance went at Spike on his Twitter page Tuesday (March 8) evening.
During a Northwestern University appearance last week, Lee name-dropped Chance and his credibility.
“Chance the Rapper’s a fraud. Straight-up fraud,” Lee said. “He puts himself up as a speaker of the people, but that means you have to put truths that you see. That doesn’t mean you can pick and choose what you talk about.” (North By Northwestern)
In a recent interview, Spike questioned Chance’s true issues with his film and accused him of being a hypocrite.
“First of all, Chance the Rapper should say full disclosure: his father works for the mayor. His father is the chief of staff. Show me any criticism. If you’re so concerned about Chicago, do your research, show me where he’s made criticisms about the mayor. I think your finds will be surprising. He’s not criticized the mayor. Why? His father works for the mayor.” (CNBC)
Chance took to his Twitter page last December and went at Spike for his new movie’s fictional solution to solving Chicago’s violence.

Spike recently defended his movie amongst criticism coming from people over its title and content.
“I have students who make feature films on their iPhones,” Lee said. “So, all these people talking smack, you can make a film. You can make your own film.” (Chicago Tribune)
