Chicago’s Chance The Rapper has no interest in running for president in the foreseeable future and possibly ever. The hip-hop star has dished on his displeasure in politics.
In a recent interview, Chance talked about never wanting to suit up for a presidential run.
“I would never run for any office or government position,” he says plainly after cracking a smile. “I’m not into it. I think politics is a reason why a lot of stuff doesn’t get done. There’s a lot of favors, and a lot of people are held back by their intentions of being re-elected or the things that they owe their party or constituents. I think when you’re in my position as an artist, I can say what I want and talk about the issues that matter.” (Ebony)
Last month, rap star Drake weighed-in on the idea of Chance possibly running for mayor.
“Yeah I do,” Drake told paparazzi when asked if he thought Chance The Rapper would make a good Chicago mayor. Drake was mobbed Tuesday night by fans and paps shouting all kinds of questions outside Tao in L.A. — he didn’t have much to say. But when asked if Chance would make a good mayor in his hometown of Chicago … Drizzy made sure everyone heard his answer. (TMZ)
Days prior, social media had exploded with pro-Chance mayor campaigns.
