New York rapper Cardi B‘s best friend Star Brim has some serious legal trouble on her head. New reports claim the hip-hop star’s day one is charged with her connection to criminal activity.

Big Facts: According to reports, Brim is one of nearly twenty peopled charged in a major case.

The best friend of Bronx superstar Cardi B has been charged in a sweeping roundup of members of the 5-9 Brims, a violent Bloods street gang. But the heavily pregnant Star Brim won’t be arrested until she gives birth, officials say.  Brim — real name Yonette Respass — was one of 18 defendants named in an indictment of gang members in the Southern District of New York Tuesday. She is accused of being the highest ranking female member of the gang and is charged with slashing a person and participating in a racketeering conspiracy.  (NBC New York)

High-Key Details: Brim is accused of playing a huge role in a 2018 assault case connected to Cardi B.

The well-connected 28-year-old from the Bronx, whose real name is Yonette Respass, was one of the 11 charged in indictments unveiled on Tuesday in the Southern District of New York. Prosecutors claim she ordered a brutal assault against Queens bartenders at Angels Strip Club while she was serving a federal prison sentence in Connecticut.

Wait, There’s More: In 2018, Cardi made headlines after getting charged in the August 2018 nightclub brawl.

Online court records associated with Cardi B’s case indicate the “Bodak Yellow” star was charged with two counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious injury. All the other charges, which range from harassment to criminal solicitation, conspiracy and reckless endangerment, are misdemeanors. If convicted, all three face up to four years in prison. The charges came down just about two months after the “Bodak Yellow” singer declined a plea deal to an A misdemeanor — one that essentially would have gotten her off scot-free if she stayed out of trouble — in connection with the Aug. 29, 2018, fight in Queens. Before You Go: In November 2019, Cardi congratulated Brim on gearing up for motherhood.
