Dipset’s Cam’ron recently updated fans aching for a Diplomat reunion album and explained why he won’t rush out the long-awaited project.
In Cam’s opinion, group members’ personal obligations and responsibilities have kept the album off shelves.
“It might’ve passed, it might not; I can’t say. We do shows four, five, six times a year together. We get booked to all do shows, it’s just that everybody all got their personal thing goin’ on,” Cam explained to MTV News on Wednesday of the Dips reunion and comeback album Diplomatic Immunity 3. “Jim is doing clothing, El doing clothing, I’m doing movies and clothing. It’s just that everybody’s got to find that space. What we don’t want to do is dilute it and make it seem like it’s fake.” (MTV)
Dismissing any and all feud speculation, Killa Cam recently admitted scheduling and an emphasis on putting out a quality effort has held the LP back.
“Well, you know we all good with each other. It’s about everybody, everybody still got a lot going on. You know what I’m saying? It’s about everybody just being on the same page and not being busy. You know what I’m saying? Everybody got something going on right now. So, we all just gotta get on the same page and if we get the time, but it’s definitely all love. It’s just about nobody wants to sit in the studio for a week and just do a Dipset album cause it wouldn’t be genuine. So, basically we trying to figure out the time schedule so we can do it and get it right.” (Hoodrich Radio)
Earlier this year, Juelz Santana promised the Diplomats were back to business.
“We definitely going to get back in the studio and start working on some music and if the vibe is good and the music is coming out the way it’s supposed to come out. We going to put that record out.” (HHS1987)
A few days prior, Dipset’s Jim Jones spoke on the much anticipated reunion.
“It’s nothing really holding it up,” Jimmy said in an interview when asked about the Dipset reunion. “It’s just an organic thing, it’s a band of brothers that started this game from teenagers, made a h*ll of a lot of money, probably more money than most of the industry had ever seen, um, you know, we all was feeling ourselves, little discrepancies, got back together, loving the fact that we could get back together on our own regard because everybody is their own boss, it’s still Dipset for life, all of us have been recording. This month marks the ten-year anniversary of Diplomatic Immunity 1, the first album we did together. So yes, there will be a lot of surprises this year. We plan to attack a lot of Summer Jam stages, we plan to attack a lot of venues, um, we good. You’re gonna love it, I promise you. And we have some music, that’s the scary thing. … I can say now we have some music that’s going to bust some people’s heads open.” (“Jenny Boom Boom TV”)
