Hollywood actor Will Smith has reportedly officially signed on to star in a long-awaited Bad Boys 3 movie.

According to reports, Smith and film producer Jerry Bruckheimer came to an agreement this week to move forward with movie plans.

Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer have agreed to make “Bad Boys 3” … TMZ has learned. Sources connected with both Bruckheimer and Smith tell TMZ, the 2 have talked for hours in the last 2 days — 4 hours at dinner Tuesday night and a long lunch on Wednesday — to hash out the terms of the contract. They also spent time working on the script. (TMZ)

Last month, Smith dished on his interest in going forward with the long-awaited follow-up to 2003’s Bad Boys 2.

“You know what? I saw Martin a few days ago, a few weeks ago and I hadn’t seen him for about two years. We just looked at each other and we hugged and in that moment, we both knew we were making another Bad Boys. [laughs] So yeah, we’re definitely doing another one.” (BBC Radio 1Xtra)

Speculation about a Bad Boys 3 flick coming together intensified in summer 2014.

When asked whether a Bad Boys 3 is possible, Martin said that he has spoken with Jerry Bruckheimer and that the film is indeed happening. Martin told Conan, “Yes! I just talked to Jerry yesterday and he said that it is real and he is working on the script and that they are getting close.” (RumorFix)

Recently, music mogul and director Damon “Dame” Dash spoke out on Will falling back on the upcoming Academy Awards.

“Let’s say Will Smith didn’t have an Oscar or a movie out, would he still boycott?” Dash says. “I don’t have a movie in there. I’ve had movies that I felt should have been nominated, like The Woodsman and Shadowboxer. I felt dubbed. Right now, it’s kind of hard to hear somebody say, ‘Yo, I’m not going to the Oscars ’cause I wasn’t invited’ and expect everyone else not to. What about everyone that’s not invited all the time? So I would rather hear Will say that when he didn’t have a movie out or Jada [Pinkett Smith]. It would seem a little more objective as opposed to personal.” (“Dr. Boyce Watkins”)
