While Busta is keeping mum on the details, he did announce the LP’s existence Tuesday (July 16).

“Big announcement in a couple hrs.!! #Staytuned…”

“E.L.E.2”

“#ELE2,” Busta tweeted July 16. (Busta Rhymes’ Twitter)

Busta previously talked to SOHH about recruiting comedian Chris Rock to contribute to the LP.

“Chris Rock is a friend of mine,” Busta told SOHH. “He’s a Brooklyn native, I’m a Brooklyn native. We’ve watched each other grow in the industry throughout the years. We homies. One day I seen him in Miami and I just had this idea for him to narrate the entire album. I went to L.A. and when I seen him in L.A., I gave him a call, told him to come down to the studio, see what was going on with the project so he could get an idea of the direction we were going and he heard it and he was with it. He did what he had to do right there on the spot.” (SOHH)

He also explained why he adds comedy to all of his albums.

“With every one of my albums, I’ve always had some sort of comedy element,” Busta added. “I’ve had [comedian] Dolemite on my previous albums, Mike Epps and now Chris Rock. I’ve always incorporated that as a balance because sometimes I deal with subject matter that’s a little deep so I feel that balance [is needed].” (SOHH)

Initial plans for his solo album to get changed from Chemo to Extinction.Level.Event.2 surfaced back in May 2010.

The trend of album sequel continues with Busta Rhymes as the New York staple plans another chapter from from his 1998 opus E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front. Busta’s manger Chris Lighty sent out the message via Twitter. Lighty simply said, “Extinction.Level.Event 2 ……prepare yourself.” Like the first, E.L.E. 2 is inspired by movies of pending destruction and doom on planet Earth, Lighty said. “From the Intro of the new Busta Album your going to know your [sic] in trouble and you just turned on 2012 the movie on warp speed,” he said.
