Cash Money Records' Busta Rhymes and Power 105.1's Charlamagne Tha God reportedly clashed over the weekend and now the animated New York City radio personality is preparing to tell all.
Keeping details on the low, Charlamagne promised to spill the beans on Tuesday’s “Breakfast Club” broadcast.
“If you want to know what happen with Busta Rhymes and I tune into @breakfastclubam tomorrow morning at 6AM…..@Power1051,” he tweeted July 2nd. (Charlmagne Tha God’s Twitter)
Reports claim the incident took place at a Sunday (July 1) night industry event in Los Angeles.
While under the same roof at last night’s Melanie Fiona-hosted party in Los Angeles (an after-party to the 2012 BET Awards), Busta and Charlamagne reportedly got into a heated exchange. According to reports, Busta Rhymes approached Charlamagne and asked about some negative comments that Wendy Williams had said about him several years ago. Interestingly enough, the remarks that Williams made about Busta were stated years before Charlamagne joined Wendy’s radio show in 2006. (Wendy Williams departed from radio altogether in 2009, to pursue her television talk show, The Wendy Williams Experience.) After the confrontation, Charlamagne immediately took to Twitter to express his disgruntled mind state, tweeting, “I don’t f*ck with these industry n*ggas…” (XXL Mag)
In addition to Busta, the New York City radio head recently got called out by rival station Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex.
“Yo, you’re taking such a beating out here. All three of y’all are out here getting robbed,” Flex boasted on his Saturday night Hot 97 radio show. “Retweet that! Man, I can’t get that many records on, I’m so hyped. [plays ‘How 2 Rob’] Oh, you thought I was going to play games this week? That’s what you thought? That’s what you thought, right? You thought people were scared of y’all? Summer Jam is going to be what turned your lights off. Three robbery victims, New York. I want you to know that you are witnessing frauds. Okay? Funk Flex also placed extra emphasis on Charlamagne’s Southern upbringing.
