Asked about album leaks, Bun shared his theories on one of the music businesses’ biggest weaknesses.

“Hackers steal them from e-mails and sell the music. Or else its stolen from warehouse. RT @minnousanta: @BunBTrillOGhow do albums leak?,” Bun tweeted Tuesday (January 25). (Bun B’s Twitter)

In August, Dr. Dre spoke on his issues with unauthorized releases after his unfinished “Under Pressure” Jay-Z collabo hit the Internet without authorization.

“I’m not mad at the fans. I’m mad at the person that leaked the sh*t. I have no idea how it got out. It’s not even worth looking to see who did it. It happens. The most painful part about it is that I’m passionate about what I do so people should hear it in the right form…Somebody actually hacked into our emails, so that made our red flags go up. We’re in a new age and that’s a sign, ‘Wake up motherf*cker.’ You have to be more careful with your sh*t. That’s all there is to it. I know what’s up now.” (VIBE)

Last November, days before its release, Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday debut leaked online.

Pink Friday came even earlier than expected. Nicki Minaj’s debut album leaked online on Wednesday (November 17), less than a week before its scheduled release date. The project was originally slated to arrive on Friday (November 19) before shifting to November 23 and then finally settling on November 22. The Pink Friday tracks floating on the Web include collaborations between Nicki Minaj and A-list artists like Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake. (MTV)

Minaj’s Young Money labelmate Drake also suffered a premature leak of his debut, Thank Me Later, last May; however, he later said he felt confident the LP would be a commercial success.

“I always said if I had put out an album that was poor quality and music that people didn’t enjoy, then I think the leaks would hurt me,” Drake said in an interview. “Because a lot of the feedback has been great. The word of mouth, music is something that is to be enjoyed. I think it can help me so, June 15th, I’m stillconfident.” (The Life Files)
