The man allegedly responsible for a horrific Charleston, South Carolina shooting, Dylann Roof, has been charged with nine counts of murder.
The Charleston police department announced the charges on Twitter Friday (June 19).
President Barack Obama addressed the gruesome attack Thursday (June 18).
“I’ve had to make statements like these too many times,” he said. Yet again, he added, innocent people have been killed by someone “who wanted to inflict harm and had no problem attaining a gun.” “At some point we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this kind of mass violence doesn’t happen in other advance countries,” he said. Hours after the shooting, Dylann Roof’s name surfaced as a possible suspect.
Charleston police named the suspect as Dylann Roof of Lexington, South Carolina. The gunman is believed to have sat in on a bible study meeting for up to an hour on Wednesday evening before opening fire, killing six women and three men including the church pastor. Officials have called it a hate crime. (BBC News)
So he’s not going to get the death penalty? I wonder if he was brown would he have even been caught alive? Pretty sure they would of put 40 rounds into him.
