New York rapper Bobby Shmurda‘s 18-year-old girlfriend has reportedly been pulled into the jailed hip-hop artist’s legal woes following a recent arrest.

According to reports, Shmurda’s girlfriend tried slipping him a shank during a jail visit earlier this month.

The 20-year-old Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, was busted June 21 after a guard allegedly saw Kimberly Rousseau, 18, pull a black latex glove balloon wrapped in black electrical tape out of her bra and hand it to him. The guard opened the balloon and found a “sharpened metal object” according to a criminal complaint. (NY Daily News)

Prosecutors reportedly want Shmurda to agree to nearly ten years behind bars in a weapons case.

The rapper dressed in an orange jumpsuit did not speak speak or acknowledge his family members or Epic Records executives (including label president, Sylvia Rhone) in attendance. Prosecutors reminded the defense that Bobby has a standing offer of an eight-year sentence for his role as the “mastermind” behind the GS9 collective that combined are facing over 100 charges of assault, murder and more. According to reports, Shmurda must remain in jail until his trial starts in October.

Bobby Shmurda appeared in court today for the first time since late April as Judge James Burke set his multiple-charge conspiracy trial to begin Oct. 5. But during today’s hearing, the prosecution noted that Shmurda, aka Acquille Pollard, had been re-arrested this week on a charge unrelated to the case. According to the prosecution, Shmurda was arrested Tuesday, June 23 after he received a “sharpened metal instrument” on June 21. The charge will not be included in the indictment that he will face in October. (XXL Mag)

G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks talked to SOHH about Shmurda’s situation earlier this year.

“I think that them coming in with that raw energy, you got to be on the same radar regardless. You are young, black and not supposed to be here. I was fortunate enough to get out of it, I didn’t sit too long any time I was locked up. But at the same time, it’s not nothing really to talk highly about. I just hope that they can get through that situation okay.” (SOHH)
