Bobby Shmurda’s Lawyer Provides Update: “People Have To Understand That His Bail Is $2 Million”

Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda‘s lawyer has stepped forward to provide fans with an update on his client a day before his court appearance on a gun possession charge.

According to defense attorney Kenneth Montgomery, tomorrow’s court decision will be to provide a decision on the motions that have been filed.

“I expect—like most of my cases, the thousands of cases that I’ve had—I expect the judge to have a decision based on a motion that I authored and gave the courts and the prosecutors to respond. And I expect the case to be put on some sort of track for discovery to make sure all the paperwork is turned over. I expect to give a hard drive [to obtain] outstanding videotapes and other discovery that the district attorney has and I expect to get locked in to try to fight this case.” (XXL Mag)

Montgomery also spoke on the possibility of Shmurda being released in the immediate future.

“People have to understand that his bail is $2 million. He’s not a multi-millionaire, so for his bail to be that, any potential suitors must be a good fit. Whoever comes in has to be the right fit. If we can get someone who’s the right fit, of course it could happen.” (XXL Mag)

Discussing his record label Epic’s reluctance to help him post bail, Shmurda recently downplayed the criminal topics in his music.

Now, from jail, Mr. Pollard, who once stood by the veracity of his rhymes, said that the lyrics were “fabricated,” because “that’s what’s selling nowadays.” And, he added, Epic “grabbed me up at a vulnerable time.” He continued: “I was desperate to get out of the ’hood. I knew I was going to lose my life or go to jail.” But the record deal may have been too late to save him. According to the 101-count indictment, the city had been investigating GS9 since 2013, well before Mr. Pollard became famous. (New York Times)

“I think that them coming in with that raw energy, you got to be on the same radar regardless. You are young, black and not supposed to be here. I was fortunate enough to get out of it, I didn’t sit too long any time I was locked up. But at the same time, it’s not nothing really to talk highly about.
