Music stars Bobby Shmurda, Jay Electronica, Birdman, Common and more are slated to invade the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards ceremony in Atlanta.
According to a BET press release, a handful of notable rap acts will light up the annual showcase this October 14.
For eight years, the BET “HIP HOP AWARDS” has remained the most prominent hip hop culture showcase on television. This year will be no different as Uncle Snoop joins Common, Birdman, DJ Premier, DJ Mustard, Rich Homie Quan, Bobby Shmurda, Young Thug, Vince Staples, Jay Electronica, Migos, YG and Rae Sremmurd as confirmed performers for this year’s “Hip Hop Awards.” BET’s “Real Husband of Hollywood” and Grammy award winning rapper, Nelly and the “first lady” of G.O.O.D Music, Teyana Taylor are confirmed to be presenters. This year Drake leads the BET “Hip Hop Awards” 2014 with eight impressive nominations for ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘MVP of the Year,’ ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse,’ and the coveted ‘People’s Champ Award.’ Followed by JAY Z, Future and Pharrell who each received six nods; Nicki Minaj, Rich Homie Quan and YG garnered five HHA nominations. Nominated in nearly 15 categories, rap star Kendrick Lamar stole the show after picking up notable awards including “Album of the Year” at last year’s show.
The full winner list of 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards has been revealed. Kendrick Lamar, who competed in 14 categories, was the biggest winner with five awards that include Album of the Year for his newest album “good kid, m.A.A.d city”. The Compton rapper then took home Sweet 16 and Best Collabo awards for “F**kin’ Problems”, his collaboration with A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz and Drake. Just more of a reason to not watch the BET Hip-Hop Awards this year. Or ever. Only thing good about the BET Hip-hop Awards are the cyphers (sometimes) and I can easily watch these on YouTube like the next day.
