Birdman Spreads Wings On YMCMB Affiliates: “I Always Believed In Unity”

Cash Money Records head Birdman recently talked about his relationship with YMCMB affiliates Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan amid new music coming together.

According to Birdman, his game plan has been to help build both music stars’ careers simultaneously.

“I met Thug, flew him to L.A. to come see me and we connected from there, then Quan came to the table. I always believed in unity, that’s always been my thing. They were already working on a project, them two, and I said, ‘Let’s do it together. Let me take it to the next level for y’all, ’cause I see y’all got the potential and the talent.'” (MTV)

Quan had this to say about Birdman this past summer…

Over the summer, Quan said Birdman had provided his multi-decade advice and helped steer him in the right direction.

“I’m helping Birdman with the Rich Gang project,” said Rich Home Quan. Of his relationship with the Cash Money mogul he added, “Birdman is more like a big brother I never had. He gives me a lot of creative advice. A lot of wisdom. I just kick it with him every day, we just a family.” (XXL Mag)

Rich Homie also admitted he had no interest in rushing a major record label deal.

“I’m just still waiting on the right situation. I want something that’s gonna be long term opposed to something that’s sort of like a fling. But yes, I do want to sign a label deal.” Independent or not, Rich Homie is dropping his debut LP this year. “I will be dropping my album before the year is out,” he told XXL. (XXL Mag)

Recently, Young Thug dished out his respect for YMCMB leader Lil Wayne and called Baby a father figure.

“Wayne, Wayne and Wayne. The fact that the n*gga got 100 M’s and he still rap everyday, it’s amazing,” Thug said in an interview. “Rich Gang to the death. Big shout out to [Gucci Mane]. He was a big help to my career. But, I’m with Rich Gang and that’s how we gone turn it up… [Cash Money’s Baby] is like a real father figure.” (The FADER)
