Cash Money Records boss Birdman sees more than just a standout artist on his roster with protégé Drake. The hip-hop mogul recently weighed-in on just how much the 6 God means to the label.

In a new interview, Baby went the extra mile to call Drizzy the most consistent artist.

“He got so many songs. He a workaholic,” said the YMCMB boss. “Drake kept this shit alive for the last four-five years consistently. Nicki do her thing also, but he’s been the most consistent Young Money/Cash Money artist.” Birdman went on to say that Drake manifested this type of success with hard work. “He talked about this sh*t and turned it into reality,” he added. “He never lived life like he’s living it. He comes from the trap, from the slums, and he ain’t ever had a sweet life. Now, he’s making a hell of a life for himself. I have to say that he’s on a high horse to be living life like this.” (Rap-Up)

This week, media insiders speculated Drake might break away from Cash Money and start a new deal with Universal Music Group.

The smart money says that the only deal Drake is out of is his longtime pact with Cash Money, and that he already has a new arrangement in place with Uni. While nothing official has been announced, it’s likely that Drake has been given his own label with fabulous terms and amazing splits. As usual, only Drake knows when he’ll be dropping his next set, but typically contracts like the expiring one with Cash Money contain clauses concerning conflicting release date. Theoretically, a new Drake set could mitigate the success of the current project, but you never know what kinds of deals can be worked out when you’re on fire like the Canuck wonder. Earlier in the week, speculation developed about Drake possibly releasing a new album shortly after he inks a fresh record contract.

Word is that Drake is at the end of his contractual obligations to the Young Money/Cash Money label — “Soon as this album drop I’m out of the deal,” he raps on the song “Is There More” — which is distributed through Universal Music Group’s Republic Records. And a well-placed source tells Variety that when Drake signs his next deal, he’ll have another release ready to drop to accompany the news — although a Universal source reveals that the artist is not leaving the label family any time soon. A few days ago, Drake flexed some extremely impressive Billboard Hot 100 stats.
