Brooklyn rapper Lil Kim has shared thoughts on the deaths of the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, and why people should consider the possibility that the killings were a conspiracy.

Kim believes the power behind B.I.G. and Tupac’s music posed a threat to government officials.

“I will say this though, I will say that I always felt like Biggie and Tupac’s deaths were bigger than how they tried to make it out to believe it to be,” Kim explained in an interview. “It’s bigger than [former Death Row Records owner] Suge Knight being involved. I think it was even over his head. Them two were very powerful guys. They both could have ran for mayor just like Arnold Schwarzenegger and probably [have] won. You know, I think the government was looking at it like, ‘We could not have these two hood dudes with this much power running for mayor and something like that and winning.’ They would have lost control I think. I think it was way deeper than what people would like it to be.” (Lady T Video)

Last year, B.I.G.’s cousin, rapper Lil Cease demanded justice for the two rap moguls’ murders.

“I’m definitely upset about it,” Lil’ Cease told MTV News. “I think it’s something they should look into, especially when you see all these other things going on and you see how they pursue other cases. It just seems like when it came to Biggie, it was, ‘Oh, another rapper, another hoodlum, another gangster is dead.’ Same thing with 2Pac. These were two of the most influential figures in hip-hop, and you’re not finding these people’s murderers? Or not even making a real attempt to? It upsets you, ’cause they’re treating them like nobodies but they had a big influence in the game and people look up to them. No matter what they rap about or what they’d been through, they were still human beings at the time.” (MTV)

A few weeks ago, the Notorious B.I.G. 1997 murder case received a new lead.

Eight years later in 2005, a civil trial brought by the Wallace family against the city of Los Angeles exposed evidence hidden by the LAPD that suggests two rogue police officers David Mack and Rafael Perez may have been involved in the murder of the rapper also known as “Biggie Smalls”. According to a newly-revealed court record, Perez’s cellmate told investigators “Perez and Mack were involved in Death Row Records. Perez got involved in Death Row through Mack..” “Perez was working security. Perez had a cell phone. Perez said he called over to Mack, David Mack on his cell phone. Perez told Mack that Biggie Smalls was in his truck. Perez never said that he set up Biggie Smalls but I have heard that he…had something to do with that murder,” according to the inmate. (CBS News)

Last January, the B.I.G. murder case’s revival became public.

A task force made up of local and federal law enforcement agencies is actively pursuing leads into the 1997 slaying of hip hop artist Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or Notorious B.I.G., according to two sources familiar with the investigation. According to one law enforcement source, the investigation into the 13-year-old unsolved case was “reinvigorated” months ago as a result of new information, but the source would not elaborate further because of the ongoing investigation that includes the Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. County District Attorney’s Office and the FBI. (CNN)
