According to Sean, the solo project will land in stores around early May.

Looks like Big Sean’s anticipated album, Finally Famous, will be coming out on May 3rd, 2011 via G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam. He also confirmed that Kanye, Mike Posner, and Pharrell will all make appearances. Another interesting note is that he mentions a mixtape should be dropping before the album, to make sure the buzz is right. (MOG News)

Last month, reports claimed the album would drop in late March.

Big Sean commanded listeners’ attention earlier this week with the debut of his Chris Brown-assisted single “My Last,” and now his debut album finally has an official release date. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper will drop his first studio LP Finally Famous: The Album on March 29, Rap-Up.com has learned. He will face competition from his hip-hop peers Wiz Khalifa (Rolling Papers) and Snoop Dogg (Doggumentary), among others. (Rap-Up)

However, Sean later came forward to dismantle the speculated March date.

“That can’t be right, because I’m definitely going to work on it right now,” the Detroit native told XXLMag.com yesterday with a laugh as he was preparing to hit the studio in Los Angeles. “But it is coming out very soon. March is definitely premature. I would say, like, maybe summertime-ish. But we’ll make a big announcement…I’m not gonna say it’s not coming out in March, cause maybe [Def Jam has] some plans, but I, personally, don’t know if it’s coming out in March. But if they say it’s coming out in March, it’s coming out in March. I’m feeling a little bit more summer, but they’re the ones putting it out. I could be wrong.” (XXL Mag)

Last summer, Sean opened up about his experience on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music team.

“At first I was always feeling pressure, you know, being on a label with Common, John Legend, and all these other great artists,” Sean revealed in an interview. “It’s a roster full of great artists. You know [Kid] Cudi, GLC…the list goes on and on. I definitely would always feel pressure, but then you got to remember that you are there for a reason. I always got to remember that I am just as good as they are, in [the] sense of why I am on the label. You just always got to remember that. I feel like Kanye [West] has definitely molded me artistically and taught me a lot of things. Before he signed me, he took me under his wing just to show me how to make an album. He taught me a lot of different methods; he taught me not to write my lyrics down, just premeditate them. So I don’t write none of my raps, I just think them. The list goes on and on, on all the things he’s taught me. You definitely feel the pressure, but a little pressure’s good.” (Hip Hop DX)
