G.O.O.D. Music’s Big Sean recently talked about penning his upcoming follow-up album to last year’s Dark Sky Paradise and his approach going in.

According to B-I, he initially struggled to find a topic or concept for the new release.

“When I first started making my album, I was just making music off feeling, not thinking about it. Then I started thinking, ‘What the f*ck do I want to say? What do I want to do now?’ I came up with something that struck a chord with me,” Sean said in an interview. “One of the things I talk about on the album is being a better son. I would talk to my mom and she’d say, ‘I haven’t talked to you in weeks.’ I realized you gotta embrace your business and your work but you can’t let it take over you.” (XXL Mag)

Last month, Sean thanked fans for helping make his Dark Sky Paradise album reach platinum status.

Back in February, Sean dished on putting together his Dark Sky Paradise follow-up release.

“It’s a lot of new music that’s done, but we’re just getting it right. It’s my best work so far. I feel like on my last album, that’s the most comfortable I’ve been. This one is taking that to another level. The concept is crazy. The songs are crazy, and I’ve got a surprise, too. I’ve got a real surprise coming up soon.” (Real 92.3)

Back in December, G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T discussed the chance of a new Big Sean album arriving in 2016.

“The first two projects, we’re looking at mine and Sean’s. I got another album entitled King Push that’s coming out in April. Sean dropping. The Kanye SWISH project, you know he come when he wanna come. I don’t even bother him about his situation.” (Shade 45)
