Grammy-winning singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter dishes out how long she made her husband of five years, Jay-Z, wait before taking their relationship up a notch in an upcoming sit-down with television mogul Oprah Winfrey.
In the latest sneak peek, Bey claims she developed a strong relationship with Young Hov before they started dating.
With a day to go until “Oprah’s Next Chapter” airs on OWN, Oprah has released a couple more excerpts from her exclusive sit-down interview with Beyoncé. In the latest clips, the private superstar gets candid about her relationship with Jay-Z and passion for performing. The 31-year-old singer credits her husband for making her who she is today. “I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man. It just gives me such a foundation,” said Mrs. Carter. “We were friends first for a year and a half before we went on any date–on the phone for a year and a half. And that foundation is so important in a relationship. Just to have someone that you just like is so important. Someone that is honest.” (Rap-Up)
Back in 2011, Queen Bey hinted at Jay being the man who took her virginity.
Beyonce claimed she only had two men in her love life and that she never had sex with the first guy. “Though I was too young for it to really be a boyfriend – we didn’t live together, we didn’t, you know …,” she said about her first boyfriend. “That was my only experience with a guy, and since then I’ve only had one other boyfriend in my life – Jay…People would be surprised as to the lack of experiences I’ve had. When I was 12 or 13 I had my first boyfriend, and he was my boyfriend until I was 17. At that age, that was a long time. I’ve always been very loyal and a little more mature.” (Ace Showbiz)
The couple reportedly started dating around 2002 and tied the knot six years later.
B and J got married in 2008 and she’s had to deal with pregnancy rumors every 6 months since saying I Do, but it’s great to know she waited for that special someone.
