Vermont Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders is out. The popular politician publicly broke the news this week that he would be withdrawing from the 2020 presidential election.
As Bernie Sanders withdraws, he leaves former vice president Joe Biden battling for the Democratic nomination, to which the latter now will most likely be squaring off against President Donald Trump.
‘I wish I could give you better news, but I think you know the truth, and that is that we are now some 300 delegates behind Vice President Biden, and the path toward victory is virtually impossible,’ Sanders said in a livestream after the call. ‘So while we are winning the ideological battle and while we are winning the support of so many young people and working people throughout the country, I have concluded that this battle for the Democratic nomination will not be successful. And so today I am announcing the suspension of my campaign.’ (CNN)
After mounted speculation, Bernie delivered the breaking news through a live stream. Sanders went to his campaign website to let the world know he’s bowing out of the presidential run.
Wait, There’s More
Political figures like Beto O’Rourke and Kamala Harris among others stood up for Sanders. Social media erupted with reactions to the massive news.
“Grateful to Bernie Sanders for the movement he leads and for the campaign he ran. He and his supporters have pushed us to be a better country. They will be critical to defeating Trump & helping the U.S. pursue the most ambitious agenda in our history starting in January 2021.” – Beto O’Rourke Twitter
“.@BernieSanders is an extraordinary leader. From health care to climate change, his campaign drove the conversation around what’s in the best interests of working families. We must continue that spirit and ethos as we work to unite the party to defeat Trump.” – Kamala Harris Twitter
Before You Go
Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Flava Flav recently faked a feud over supporting Bernie’s campaign for the 2020 Presidential Election. In a now-deleted message, Chuck revealed the entire ordeal was just a hoax put on to promote a new album from Enemy Radio, the auxiliary unit of PE that consists of himself, DJ Lord, Jahi and the S1Ws.
“The HOAX was a hoax for a reason. I was tired of bulls**t. Tired of Hip Hop alway getting a bad look as its only narrative while the good news never made the news. And SOC MED (aka social media transformation of ‘The Masses into Them Asses’ with sucking gadgets and by inhaling digital gasses) had me SMDH coming into 2020. Thus came the HOAX. A wake-up call. I had watched Orson Welles ‘War Of The Worlds’ from 1938 when he pulled the wool over the public’s eyes as they put 100% belief in the technology of radio. Most people followed like a Pavlovic dog just like they do now. Flav doesn’t do benefits and stays away from political events – we been cool and always agreed about that. Enemy Radio was built for that reason, to be a DJ+MC auxiliary unit of Public Enemy, a no-slack homage tossback to DJ+MC roots. It is DJ Lord, myself, and Jahi with the S1Ws. Hearing the confused mush of political talk while under the bowels of Trumpotus made me use a presidential stage as my platform. Out of this storm came a plan between Flav and me to remind people that what’s important should have as much, if not more, value than just what’s popular. Thus came the HOAX, our ‘War Of The Worlds.’ Believe half of what you hear and NONE of what you see. So, it’s April 1, 2020, and as we hoard food and empty store shelves, Chuck D and Flavor Flav hijack it was April ‘FlavChuck’ Day to end the HOAX with Enemy Radio’s new song, ‘FOOD AS A MACHINE GUN.’ ‘Don’t Believe The Hype’ 2020 style. That’s right, this is Enemy Radio featuring Public Enemy, with more around the corner. Enemy Radio’s debut album, ‘LOUD ISNOT ENOUGH,’ is here. ‘FOOD AS A MACHINE GUN’ is the first taste, an attack on the food industrial machine that opens minds to the direct need, dependency and necessity – yet killer – of our current lives, taking inspiration from Kristin Lawless and her book, ‘Formerly Known As Food.’ Does it take doing crazy s**t or catastrophe to wake people up? Obviously so, even when paying attention is the chepaest price to pay. So if you got that in your wallet, Enemy Radio is serving up ‘FOOD AS A MACHINE GUN.’ Chuck D”
