In less than four days, the Hollywood superhero game is going to change forever. The long-awaited wait for Avengers: Infinity War will finally be over and the latest Marvel Studios masterpiece will make it practically impossible for any other cinematic release to match its greatness. SOHH and a handful of select media outlets had access to the New York screening Monday (April 23) night and needless to say – we weren’t ready for what unfolded across the screen for a glorious two and a half hours.

In an effort to make sure you don’t suffer the same fate, here are 5 spoiler-free things you need to know before heading out Friday.

1. Every Marvel Studios Release Matters

The biggest mistake you can make going to see Avengers: Infinity War is thinking you’ve seen it all when you haven’t. Whether it’s one of those in-between movies like Thor: The Dark World or Captain America: Winter Soldier and you figure, “Well, I’ve watched both Avengers movies and most of the other standalone Marvel flicks,” – rest assured every movie plays a huge role in telling this full story. The 10-year anniversary of Marvel Studios really comes to light in Avengers: Infinity War and while you might, sorta, kinda recognize some faces, you’ll do yourself a disservice without the proper background of specific characters you’ll see on the big screen. Four days is more than enough time to get caught up on any movie you’ve missed out on and if you need a little help finding out where to view them, check out JUST WATCH and find out which service is playing a specific film.

2. Leave Bae At Home & Grab Your Nerd Bud

There are always times to clock in relationship goals but this is “not” the movie to think you can snuggle-wuggle and get kissy throughout. The “war” in Infinity War lives up to the expression and this is an all-out glorious battle that’ll have you barely able to look down to grab your popcorn or soda. This movie requires some pure Marvel Studios knowledge – hence, grab your nerdiest and smartest superhero pal when you’re contemplating who you want to go see this with. Even if you’ve watched every Marvel Studios release, there will be so much debate, discussion and Easter eggs to discuss once the final credits have ended.

3. No Breaks

You know how there’s always a few minutes in every movie you watch where you can sneak out and grab a refill? Maybe even hop back in the food line to grab some Sour Patch Kids? This. Is. NOT. THAT. MOVIE. As referenced above, it’s hard enough to look down and grab your popcorn and drink during everything going on. From the start of Avengers: Infinity War through the final moments, your eyes will be glued to the screen and trying to take in everything happening. The fast-paced moments and amount of content, characters and storylines being introduced at any given moment make this a no-breaks allowed flick. Plan accordingly.

4. Emotions Will Be Tested

There will be tears. Tears of joy? Tears of sadness? Tears of never wanting this masterpiece to end? That’s all up to you, but rest assured your emotions will be put to the test from the opening sequence. Before Marvel Studios changed the superhero game, this genre really had a lot of corniness and silliness attached to it but over the last 10 years the studio has mastered putting drama, comedy and overall sci-fi awesomeness in each of its releases but nothing to the extent of the darkness which comes at the hands – literally – of Thanos. Grab extra napkins at the butter machine because this movie will spark up a few waterworks.

5. Don’t Even Think About Leaving

As has been the tradition since Iron Man debuted in 2008, there is no way you can leave this movie without seeing the final, lasting post-credits scene. It will be worth every last second – and trust, knowing the gap in time between Avengers movies, you’ll appreciate this more than anything.

Avengers: Infinity War finally hits theaters Friday, April 27.
