Writing via Twitter, the record label assured fans Lasers‘ release was still forthcoming.

“#Lasers is coming folks!,” Atlantic wrote Saturday (July 24).

A letter requesting the album be released hit the Internet mid-week.

“Dear Atlantic Records: The fans below have been waiting for the release for Lupe Fiasco’s album “Lasers” for over a good year now. Since when it was originally announced last summer, there has still yet to be a release date announced. It has even been stated by Lupe Fiasco the artist himself, that the album si in fact completed. Enough is enough, we demand that you stop playing around and give us the album that we have been highly anticipating since the release of The Cool.” (Petition Online)

Following the petition, Lupe thanks fans via his Twitter page.

“I wake up to mass protest!!!…Thank Ya’ll…By Any Means Necessary! Keep It Going #WeWantLasers,” he wrote Thursday (July 22).

Speaking on DJ Green Lantern‘s radio show last January, Lupe said he hoped his project would come out before the summer.

“I’m actually going in to turn [Lasers] into the label in the morning,” Lupe told a caller. “I was actually supposed to turn it in tonight. I’m just keeping it crispy with the fans…I’m turning it into the label tomorrow, they gonna go through they process, see what they need to do and pick whatever single they want to do and I’m hoping before the summer, you know. That’s just what it is. Stay tuned, stay tuned.” (Team Invasion)
