R&B singer Ashanti is out here going deep into her memory bank. The crooner has dished on her run in the music industry and how JAY-Z‘s “Foolish” collaboration fell through.
According to Ashanti, her former Murder Inc. boss Irv Gotti ultimately decided to keep JAY off her breakout single.
“JAY was supposed to be on ‘Foolish.’ That’s crazy. This is what happened. Obviously I wrote the verses. Irv made the call to JAY…He played it for JAY, JAY loved the record. He was on his way to the studio. Then Irv said, ‘You know what? Nah. We’re gonna do something different because it’s the typical R&B move. You’re gonna carry the whole record on your own.” (“The Breakfast Club”)
A few weeks ago, Ashanti teased fans about music brewing with hip-hop artists Tory Lanez and Swae Lee.
