A$AP Rocky Sued For Defamation

Following a November 2021 incident in Downtown Hollywood, where A$AP Rocky faced accusations related to a shooting involving Relli, the “RIOT” rapper is now entangled in a defamation lawsuit brought forth by Relli.

A$AP, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, pleaded not guilty to two counts related to the use of a semiautomatic firearm during an altercation with A$AP Relli.

Represented by lawyer Joe Tacopina, known for his involvement in legal cases related to former President Trump and Stormy Daniels, Rocky’s legal team has alleged that Relli lied about the details of the shooting incident in an attempt to extort money. This accusation has ignited a legal battle between Tacopina and Relli’s legal representatives, who claim that Rocky’s side has defamed their client’s name.

The Legal Team

One significant piece of evidence brought forward by Relli’s team is Tacopina’s statement to Rolling Stone, where he asserted that Mayers had no involvement in the shooting. Tacopina went as far as calling the alleged shooting a “false scenario” and a scheme to generate income. He stated:

“Rocky didn’t commit a crime. It was an extortion attempt by a former associate, who threatened to make false, criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him.”

In response, Relli’s lawyers argue that their client’s reputation, personal brand, and standing within the A$AP Mob community have been negatively affected by Tacopina’s comments. They are now seeking punitive damages, compensation for legal fees, and potential income loss resulting from the adverse publicity.

The Lawsuit

Additionally, Relli has filed a civil suit against Mayers, claiming assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distress. According to Relli’s team, he was “lured” to a back alley before being shot by Mayers.

However, Mayers’ team maintains his innocence and alleges that Relli was the aggressor in the situation, stating, “He tried to attack Rocky, and some other guy got involved, and he punched some other guy in the face and knocked his teeth out, and of course now, according to him, he’s a victim,”

If convicted, Rocky could face a sentence of up to nine years in prison. Currently, he is out on $550,000 bond, awaiting the outcome of the legal proceedings.

A$AP Rocky’s Lawyer Claims A$AP Relli Lied About Shooting Incident To Extort Money

A$AP Rocky’s defense lawyer steps up to bat in defense of the rapper in regard to the shooting allegation made by A$AP Relli. His lawyer claims that Relli made up the shooting claim to extort money from the rapper.

False Scenario

Joe Tacopina, the defense lawyer for A$AP Rocky, claimed the rapper is the victim of a failed shakedown and a fabricated shooting accusation concocted by “jealous” former friend A$AP Relli.

Tacopina remained adamant that Rocky did not shoot anyone during the incident on Hollywood Street in November 2021.

The lawyer told Rolling Stone, “Rocky didn’t shoot him by any stretch.”

He also called the accusation a “false scenario”  that is “a plain and blatant classic attempt at extortion.”

Tacopina claims Relli antagonized Rocky for money before the former A$AP Mob member allegedly started a physical altercation. Thereafter, he tried to spin said confrontation into a shooting claim.

Tacopina said A$AP Relli is a “failed associate – ex-associate – of Rocky’s, and he’s jealous. He was trying to get money from Rocky. He wanted Rocky to support him.”

He also made it clear there were “repeated attempts where he tried to ask for money instead of not causing problems for Rocky. That’s what he said. We have all this memorialized in text messages and otherwise, so it’s extortion.”

“He tried to attack Rocky, and some other guy got involved, and he punched some other guy in the face and knocked his teeth out, and of course now, according to him, he’s a victim.”

A$AP Relli Reveals Himself As A$AP Rocky’s Shooting Victim

Terell Ephron, a talent manager, producer, and fashion venture capitalist, better known as A$AP Relli, of the former A$AP Mob, has come forward as the man A$AP Rocky allegedly shot last November.

Rolling Stone was the first to report this as the outlet learned Relli had plans to file a civil suit for assault, battery, and emotional distress against his friend.

Relli moved to publicly accuse A$AP Rock, luring him to an obscure location in central Hollywood “to discuss a disagreement between the two of them.”
