An arrest has reportedly been made in the recent $10,000 robbery case involving The Black Peas' Will.i.am.
According to reports, a 22 year-old turned himself in to Los Angeles authorities.
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of stealing electronics and accessories from Will.i.am. The Black Eyed Peas singer’s Bentley was broken into last month and the suspect managed to escape with $10,000 worth of items, including his new iPad. The unnamed 22-year-old turned himself in to Los Angeles police after admitting to multiple counts of car burglaries which included Will.i.am’s. (Digital Spy)
Recently writing via a blog post, Will credited Apple’s iPad for helping him retrieve his property.
“everyone is talking about my car getting broken into… actually…i accidentally left it open…unfortunately someone walked by it and took everything out of it…,” he wrote Wednesday (June 30). “in my car was my coke bottle cap man bag…and in that bag was my drivers license, black american express card, visa card, 10 thousand dollars worth of items, and my ipad… ha ha… (thats when i remember i turned on “find my ipad function) to make a long story short – threw gps and find my ipad on: i located it and the dumb a** criminals and sent 6 cops to their house…recovered all my stuff…”wow”…the lesson here is never steal technology…” (Dip Dive)
Reports previously suggested Will’s iPad had a tracking device he used to help police.
It was too much for Will.i.am who found his possessions worth over $10,000 missing. Though he initially lost his cool and panicked over the loss, he didn’t take much time to discover that his iPad had a built-in tracking system which would help him trace the locality of the robbers. As soon as he could locate the scumbag, he contacted the cops with the address and the cops followed the tracks. It didn’t take much time for the police to reach the spot and they got most of Will.i.am’s stuff. (Entertainment & Showbiz)

Will.i.am’s ride got boom boom pow’d in the Hollywood Hills Monday night — according to law enforcement sources, bad guys broke into the rapper’s Bentley and jacked over $10,000 worth of stuff. TMZ has learned the Black Eyed Peas star made the shocking discovery himself and called the police to file a report. According to sources, the loot included jewelry and several of the singer’s personal items. We’re told cops are hot on the trail of the bad guys — and some of the stolen property has already been recovered. (TMZ)
