Months after the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, another teenager has been killed at the hands of law enforcement.
According to reports, 18-year-old Antonio Martin lost his life Tuesday (December 23) night.
A cop fatally shot a teenager at a gas station late Tuesday just miles from Ferguson, Missouri, police said, setting off angry clashes between demonstrators and officers. St. Louis County Police confirmed in a statement that an officer from the city of Berkeley had “fired several shots,” saying the cop was “fearing for his life” after a male allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him. A handgun was recovered at the scene, police added. (NBC News)

A 34 year old white officer, who had six years experience, encountered two suspects at the Mobile gas station after responding to report of a theft. He didn’t know that one of the men was armed. The officer fired three shots after the victim raised a pistol at arm’s length. Surveillance video from Mobile station appears to support the police version of events. Only one of the shots hit the victim. No shots were fired by the victim’s “defaced” 9mm pistol. (The Guardian)

Surely (if the report is true ofcourse) there can be no surprise or outrage. If you pull a gun on police then you are going to get shot, deservedly so i believe. Its a case of police shooting a criminal not police shooting a black man.

It’s a dumb way to think like that I agree. But in places like Indiana, you can protect yourself from the police with a firearm but you have to follow the law allowing you to do so. You just can’t point a gun at the police and expect them not to retaliate.
