Grammy-winning singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter‘s camp has stepped forward to address a new movie rumor.
BK’s team denied buzz about the R&B diva appearing in a film about South African woman Saartjie Baartman.
After rumors swirling that Beyonce would be writing and starring in a film about Saartjie (Sarah) Baartman — the South African woman who appeared in freak shows because of her physical features during the 1800s — the multi-hyphenate is denying her involvement. “Beyonce is in no way tied to this project,” her rep told Billboard in a statement (Jan. 5). “This is an important story that should be told, however.” (Billboard)
Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper recently shut down gossip about Queen Bey appearing in his upcoming A Star Is Born remake.
Cooper says it’s not true. “Just a rumor,” Cooper told me last night at the premiere of his new David O. Russell-directed dramedy Joy. “But with that said, I would be honored obviously with to work with her in any capacity,” he said. (E! Online)
Reports last month claimed Cooper had Bey onboard for the highly-anticipated flick.
Bradley Cooper is moving ahead with his planned directorial debut — a remake of the classic “A Star Is Born” — and Beyoncé is on board to star with him, sources tell Page Six. But insiders added that although Cooper’s now meeting with producers in Hollywood to back the project, the film won’t be ready to go before cameras until the end of next year, or possibly January 2017. Additional reports claimed Bey is fully onboard for the potential box office blockbuster.
“Beyoncé is a go,” said a source of Cooper’s remake of “A Star Is Born,” which originated in 1937, was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand. Our source added Cooper’s still seeking the rest of the cast. “He’s out to find the rest of the cast, but he may take another acting role [in the meantime].
