Reason 2: One of One
The second reason is once again because the writing is genius. I think every good film that starts with a good script is the formula for having a winner. We started with such a strong script and such a strong idea and vision from Alex that that’s what I think really was one of the strong points. Alex is such a scientific director. He goes into such detail. He thinks about every shot and not just the vision but the meaning behind it and he explores. Alex makes you question everything. The vision, the art department, was phenomenal. The story of how DNA changes, as an audience member, makes you question that. He totally believed his vision and when you read the script, even with the action parts, it wasn’t action for action’s sake. It all had a purpose and a meaning. It enhanced the script and the words and had science behind it. Every department really felt no pressure about the project. I don’t think there was a weak link. I think every department brought a lot to the film and it shows. It’s an intelligent movie.
