Although she initially joked about having a stellar launch day line-up, Angie admitted superstars like Jay Z and Diddy humbled her.

“Yeah, Remy was yesterday. The first day we had Jay and Swizz and Alicia, and Puff. We had a great first day. It’s so weird, because we had all these amazing people call, but the blogs and stuff, everybody loves Jay, so that’s the one that stands out. [Laughs],” Angie said in an interview. “It felt awful. It felt sh*tty. [Laughs] It was amazing. It’s crazy, because people just assume things, like that’s supposed to happen, but I never take that for granted. I’m always humbled when I get support like that. And yeah, it felt great. It made me feel like I’m doing the right thing, I’m on the right path. I made the right decision.” (XXL Mag)

Martinez also revealed feeling an urge for new challenges inspired the shocking radio station jump.

“So that was it; that was the moment of thinking, “Okay, I’m ready to challenge myself in a different way. I’m ready to shake things up.” And then once I did that, it wasn’t really that hard. The company is huge, and there’s so much opportunity there that the decision’s really not that tough when you look at it, you know what I mean?” (XXL Mag)

Along with showing love to Young Money’s Drake, Angie turned things up a notch by letting the “King of New York” take over her airwaves last week.

Angie kicked the show off with Drake’s “0-100,” and has continued to play the hits throughout the show. Angie also thanked everyone for their support in her transition to her new job at Power 105 before teasing an upcoming interview with Puff Daddy in the coming weeks. UPDATE: Of course, Angie’s first show on Power 105 ended with a phone call from none other than Jay Z, who was in the Hamptons for his day off. He offered Angie good luck and some advice, and promised her that she will be successful in her new job. “You’re not termed ‘The Voice of New York’ for no reason,” he said. (Complex)

Angie is reportedly making serious bank since joining a new team.

Music insiders are buzzing that when popular disc jockey Angie Martinez jumped ship to Power 105. 1 two weeks ago, after 15 years at Hot 97, she doubled her pay. Sources tell Page Six that Clear Channel, which owns Power 105.1, offered Martinez a figure in the “high six figures.” Martinez, who was a co-host of Hot 97’s “Afternoon Drive” broadcast with DJ Enuff, will be hosting two four-hour shows in New York and Miami (Martinez’s rep had no comment).
