BEST TOUR EVER. For Real.

“Alright, here’s the rules of this show. When I say you’re beautiful, you gotta respond with ‘I know.’” Those were the first words Amine spoke to awaiting fans when he stepped onto the stage for his second sold-out New York show on the US leg of his world tour.

The tour, boldly named the “BEST TOUR EVER TOUR”  had high expectations to deliver for fans hyped after a two-year pandemic gap.  By the end of the night, fans packed in deep at NYC’s Terminal 5 got what they came for and more as Amine put on his best show ever.

With an elaborate stage setup featuring replicas of  his favorite places in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, and a huge replica of his dog, Oliver, that he couldn’t bring on tour with him, Amine rocked Terminal 5 Friday night with a whopping 31 song setlist and multiple genuine and sporadic fan interactions leaving fans in agreement that the sky’s the limit for “the boy from the rip city.”

For many in attendance, this would be the first time they would experience the west coast phenom –  two of his four recent projects were released when venues were shut down during Covid lockdowns. Despite this, the energy and expectation were raw upon arrival and the vibe was something special. The venue was packed from top to bottom with fans who randomly screamed his most popular lyrics in eager anticipation to see the man do his thing.

AJ Tracy Stuns With Slick UK Drill Style

Openers Coochise and 454 – who both hail from Florida – kept the crowd engaged and active, but it was UK-born rapper AJ Tracy who came in third and captured the audience with his slick raps and revolutionary UK drill music style.  (I found myself constantly Shazam!ing or searching for a song he performed throughout his set – which is a testament to not only his rapping prowess but his performance style.)

Amine Delivers A Night To Remember

Then finally it was time for Amine. He started the show with a medley of songs from his most recent project TWOPOINTFIVE, including the hype hit “Mad Funny Freestyle.” He followed with a few songs from his quarantine album, Limbo (my personal favorite from his discography). Amine performed his hits like the Beyonce favorite, “Caroline” (but with a special opening twist that flabbergasted fans) and finished his song “Spice Girl” with a Wannabe by Spice Girls outro that had the whole crowd singing and dancing along. He circled through a wide range of his songs from all 4 projects, but the tracklist was very meticulous as it featured not only tracks to hype the crowd up but also some introspective tracks that gave the crowd a much-needed second to breathe.

Amine was also impressive on his side of fan interaction – throughout the show, he constantly checked in on everyone, wished fans happy birthday, and performed in the mosh pit with fans engulfing him from all sides.  He even invited a fan to come up on stage to autograph his “tour pants” – a pair of pants that he wears for every show featuring patches from every city he’s visited.

Amine held nothing back and left it all on the stage, giving his fans an experience they’ll undoubtedly remember as one hella lit night on the “Best Tour Ever Tour.”
