Vixen Amber Rose has written an emotional op-ed piece this week on the struggle of being a vixen and objectified because of her image.
Amber admitted the level of shaming she has experienced only rose as she became more famous.
Ever since high school, I’ve been called a slut. All the boys were attracted to me—that wasn’t my fault! Then, when I started getting famous, the shaming got even worse. All these messed up stories came out about me, and I was like, “That’s not true! I’m not that kind of girl!” But even things I had done—things a man would never be judged for—got me lots of hate.” (TIME)
Rose also discussed the importance of people prejudging others without understanding who they are.
“So please: Before you judge someone—especially another woman—put yourself in her shoes and also look at your past. That’s what a lot of women fail to do. They’re so quick to call another girl names, but it’s like: You know what? There may have been a time where you looked back and said, “I probably shouldn’t have done that.” Does that make you a ho? No, it makes you a human.” (TIME)
This week, Rose talked about her issues with ex-boyfriend Kanye West on a morning podcast after sparring with him on Twitter.
“The thing of it is, I would never talk about kids in an argument. It just shows the type of person he is. Even him saying stuff about my son, I still didn’t say anything about his kids – you don’t ever talk about a baby. That just shows how f*cking ridiculous he is – I know he’s a f*cking clown.” (“Allegedly”)
Kanye appeared to fire the first shots by trashing Rose’s ex-husband Wiz Khalifa and referring to her as a stripper on Twitter Wednesday (January 27).
