Celebrities Akon, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Draya Michele and more reportedly lead the list of high-profile entertainers to lose the most Instagram followers following a recent purse of bogus accounts.
According to reports, iconic celebs like Oprah Winfrey had their IG accounts downsized.
On Thursday, we noticed about 1.3 million of Kim Kardashian’s vanished. Rihanna’s decreased by about 1.2 million. Katy Perry’s went down 300,000. Even Oprah lost 100,000. (New York Post)

Reports claim music star Akon lost the most Instagram followers.
Poor Akon! The “Don’t Matter” singer lost the most Instagram followers with a total of 3 million due to the purge of spam accounts. Other celebrities like Rihanna (1.2 million), Kim Kardashian (1.3 million) and Mase (1.6 million) lost huge as well. But the rapper-turned-pastor lost so many he deleted his account. But other celebs still lost a huge enough amount of followers — like Draya Michele who is 300,000 down after the social cleanse. (EurWeb)
According to reports, rap veteran Ma$e pulled the plug on IG after being taunted for allegedly having fake followers.
Instagram felt like being petty and purged damn near everyone’s followers (something it warned us about), including celebrities. Not even the Good Lord could save his former servant from The Humbling. Screenshots say Betha went from 1.6 million IG followers to 272K in one fell swoop. In an attempt to control spam, Instagram cleaned up its application earlier this month.
The company announced earlier this month that, while it may have 300 million users, it also has something of a spam account problem, and one it intended to deal with. While verified accounts for celebrities and other high-profile users was one strand of that, the other is a cull of fake profiles that has taken effect today. (Slash Gear)
