In celebratory fashion, AJ took to his Instagram page to post up personal messages and pictures from the memorable finale.

This is a surreal day I will start off by paying my respects at a home going service for a woman who sacrificed so much for so many and will be missed dearly, Mommy Blackwell. Then I have the pleasure of gracing the stage one last time with @missfreemarie to host the final televised episode of #106andPark To say today is going to be emotional is an understatement but I've learned God will not give us more than we can handle. It amazes me how far 106 and Park was taken. We started out two strangers with no television background, just trying to figure it out and we ended up with the #1 Music Television Show in America. It didn't even seem real then and today to have to return to say goodbye to 106 again is even more surreal. All I know is @missfreemarie and I love our fans, love the music and entertainers and appreciate all the other hosts who have held down the park. The following poem sums up my sentiments today tune in and always Love Live Life! Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. -Robert Frost, 1874 – 1963

Buzz about the show’s final televised broadcast landed online a few weeks ago.

America’s No. 1 music variety show on cable television, 106 & PARK, will host its final daily on-air show on December 19, 2014, concluding its impressive 14-year run. The 106 & PARK brand remains strong and will continue to produce various specials throughout the year, including its annual New Year’s Eve show, 106 & PARTY, along with live event experiences at the BET Awards and BET Experience. In 2015, 106 & PARK looks forward to continuing its reign as the hottest hangout on one of the coolest digital platforms, BET.com. (BET)

BET President of Music Programming and Specials Stephen Hill recently issued a statement on the show ending.

“AJ accepting Janet Jackson’s challenge to…dance. Bow Wow laying that kiss on Tyra Banks (or was it the other way around?). Free crawling around the set LIKE Catwoman WITH Catwoman Halle Berry. Julissa’s taking over Halloween as “Wonder Woman.” Keshia brilliantly bonding with First Lady Michelle Obama. Paigion flying around the world with Rihanna on a 777. Rocsi salsa dancing with Victor Cruz and putting him to shame. Shorty and Ms. Mykie’s killer rap, “The History of Justin Timberlake,” visably thrilling JT himself. Terrence beatboxing while Jamie Foxx rhymed. Tigger making Tom Cruise do the of-the-moment “motorcycle dance.”” (Statement)
